How Our Healthcare System is Falling Short

It’s Time to Take Back Our Health

I’ve worked in healthcare for a long time — first as a massage therapist, and later as a registered nurse. Over the years, I’ve studied herbalism, functional medicine, energy work, and craniosacral therapy, and each new step in my journey opened my eyes a little wider.

The more I learned, the more I realized something that I couldn’t ignore anymore:
our modern healthcare system isn’t really about health at all. It’s about managing sickness.

When I Realized the System Was Broken

In nursing school, we were taught how to treat disease — not how to create wellness. Once you get sick, you’re offered medications, surgeries, or sometimes nothing at all. But by the time symptoms show up, the imbalance inside your body has already been there for a while.

That hit me hard.
Because I know that the human body is incredible — it’s always trying to heal itself, always working to return to balance. But somewhere along the line, we stopped trusting that. We started looking outward for every answer, instead of learning to listen to what our bodies are trying to tell us.

Health Should Be in Our Own Hands

I’ve come to believe that knowledge is power — real, life-changing power.
When we understand how our bodies work, what they need, and how to support them naturally, we stop feeling helpless. We realize that we actually can prevent illness and support healing from the inside out.

That’s why I started Mindful Remedies — to share what I’ve learned and to help others reconnect with their own inner healer. I’m creating simple, low-cost online courses that teach you the foundational tools of health — nutrition, movement, sleep, herbs, mindset, and more — in ways anyone can understand and actually use.

You don’t have to be a doctor to take care of your body. You just need the right information — and the willingness to start.

We’ve Forgotten How to Care for Ourselves

Somewhere along the way, we stopped trusting our intuition. We stopped learning how to care for ourselves and even how to nurture the sick among us. We were taught that the only “safe” or “real” health information comes from a medical office. But that’s not true — and it’s keeping us sick.

Now we live in a world where being unwell is the norm, and wellness feels like a luxury. A 20-minute doctor visit, a prescription, and a rushed goodbye — that’s not true healthcare. That’s symptom management.

Modern medicine absolutely has its place — and I’m deeply grateful for it when it’s needed. But it was never meant to replace the daily care and awareness that real health requires.

A Movement Has Begun

It’s time to wake up and take our power back.
To remember that healing isn’t something done to us — it’s something that happens through us.

When we educate ourselves, we change everything. We stop being passive patients and become active participants in our own healing. We learn to nourish, to rest, to move, to listen, and to support the body’s natural wisdom.

And when we do that — when we truly understand how powerful we are — we start to heal not just individually, but collectively.

A movement has begun, and I’m honored to be a part of it.
I hope you’ll join me.
